Common questions
Is romp. free to use?
Yes. Searching, opening the map, and reading a place's details and its romp. score cost nothing and need no account. A free account adds check-ins, ratings, and your recent activity. romp.™ Pass is the optional paid tier on top of that.
How much does romp.™ Pass cost?
$4.99 a month, or $39.99 for a year — which works out at $3.33 a month. Both start with a 7-day free trial, and you can cancel from your account settings at any time.
How do I find dog parks near me?
Use the Where field at the top of this page — a city, a zip code, or a place name all work — then Find places to go. Or open the map and browse by distance from where you are. The map is open to anyone, with no account needed.
What is a romp. score?
It is our read on how well a place suits a dog, built from what is mapped for it — fencing, water, shade, size — together with ratings, photos, and check-ins from local dog parents. A place shows a number once it has enough community history behind it, and a quality badge before that, because a number we cannot back yet would be a guess.
Do I need an account to check in?
Yes, a free one. Check-ins and ratings are unlimited on the free tier, and each one tells the next dog parent how busy a place is right now.
How does romp. work out when it is safe for my dog's paws?
Paw-safety hours come from the real hourly forecast for that location, not from the season or a rule of thumb. Treat it as general guidance based on standard temperature thresholds — your vet knows your dog, and this does not replace their advice.
What kinds of places can I find on romp.?
Dog parks and off-leash areas, city parks, trails, nature reserves, and beaches — plus the services around a day out: vets, groomers, shops, places to eat, and places to stay. Coverage is deepest in the United States today and grows as new places are added.
Where does romp.'s place data come from?
Map data comes from OpenStreetMap contributors and the Overture Maps Foundation, place summaries come from Wikipedia under CC BY-SA, and the live layer — check-ins, ratings, and photos — comes from dog parents using romp. Each place page credits its own sources.
